Director of Music Liturgy

ANTHONY J. LUPICA earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting (Instrumental Conducting, Vocal Performance, Music History) in 1996. He earned a Masters of Music, Choral Conducting in 1993, and a Masters of Music, Classical Guitar in 1983. All were from from the University of Southern California.

He earned his Bachelor of Music, Classical Guitar (Voice, Minor) from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1981.

Tony is the President and Founder of Musical Imaging. The company employs up to 30 people to provide musical entertainment for weddings, funerals, private parties; and music training in vocal performance, classical guitar performance, instrumental and choral conducting, music theory, music history, and basic musicianship.

In 1987 Tony founded and organized an Annual Concert Series at St. Bede The Venerable in La Caņada, California. This series has been very successful financially, as well contributing significantly to community development.

In 1995 Tony founded the "Friends of St. Bede Music", a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for concerts, musicians, music and supplies for the music liturgy program at St. Bede The Venerable.

Tony's performing and conducting experience is very extensive and includes:

Conductor of various choral and instrumental ensembles, including members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra.

Studio musician for sessions with Twentieth Century Fox Studios, Oregon Catholic Press, and VQR Digital.

Assistant Conductor for Concert Choir of University of Southern California.

Featured performer touring Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary in 1988.

Vocal soloist and guitar soloist at the Papal Mass at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in 1987.

  • Music Director at St. Anthony's Church, North Providence, Rhode Island between 1975 and 1979.

Tony is currently a Professor at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California. He has also been a Teaching Assistant of Conducting at the University of Southern California; a Lecturer of Guitar, Music History, and Music Theory at California State University, San Bernardino; and a Studio Teacher at Mount St. Mary's College.

Tony was a 1987 Semi-Finalist in the International Guitar Competition sponsored by the American String Teachers Association and Guitar Foundation of America. He was also the 1981 winner of the North Carolina America String Teachers Association Guitar Competition.
